Last weekend saw the parkrun WORLD RECORD fall after Scottish Olympian, Andy Butchart, beat the previous record by just 3 seconds!
The previous record was help by GB Olympian, Andy Baddeley, which had stood since 2012 and was set at the location of the very first parkrun, Bushy parkrun.
The new record by Butchart was set up at Silverknowes parkrun in Edinburgh and astonishingly, it was his parkrun debut as he had never taken part before!
Parkrun is a free 5k event that takes place in locations all over the UK and a select few set of countries around the world with over 2,000 of them in total. Runners just need to register in advance and come along with their barcode to take part.
