Christmas Eve saw a new WORLD RECORD set by a woman over the 5k long parkrun distance.
Melissa Courtney-Bryant ran Poole parkrun in a time of 15 minutes and 31 seconds, taking 6 seconds off the previous record.
Only earlier in December, Samantha Harrison had set the previous record but Courtney-Bryant, who runs for Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers, took the new record in front of a festive turnout at the Dorset event.
An experienced athlete, Courtney-Bryant won a bronze medal over 1500m at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was third in the 2019 European Indoors 3,000m race.
In what most have been perfect conditions, 9 of the first 15 runners achieved a PB over the 5k in an impressive morning of running.
There's hope for us all yet!
