You might have seen our recent post about our fantastic Spotify music playlists created by our fabulous running community!
There are now 4 amazing lists to choose from which hopefully offer something everyone!
We realised that as well as some banging tunes, sometimes it’s nice to bring the tempo down a notch or two and seek running inspiration from another source. There are some brilliant running podcasts out there, so we reached out to our community again for your suggestions and are really excited to share some of these now! Please let us know if there any that we have missed!
By far the most popular suggestion in our poll was the Running Commentary Podcast, hosted by Paul Tonkinson and Rob Deering, recorded often whilst they are out running themselves! Episodes meander around a variety of subjects, not necessarily always running related, but always feature shout-outs for listeners PBs.
Jenni Falconers RunPod came next in our poll. Episodes are strewn with a swathe of fantastic advice and interesting guests from Olympian Jo Pavey to Body Coach, Joe Wicks.
Run to the Hills, sponsored by Chia Charge, releases new episodes weekly. They share interviews with the stars of the trail and ultra running world as well as occasional product features.
The Women’s Running Podcast was also a popular choice, hosted by the magazine’s editor Esther Newman. Episodes feature a Workshop Pro with expert guidance and tips as well as once a month, an interview with an inspiring woman from the running world. Previous guessed have included Paula Radcliffe and Nicky Spinks.
Running is Bullsh*t was also suggested. Yes, it was suggested by one of the hosts, but in this instance we will allow it (partly because I have been a guest!). They are the self-proclaimed podcast that love to hate running! If you have a running rant you want to share, then this is the place for you!
The Big Run Podcast hosted by Danny Easton features friends, athletes, entrepreneurs, innovators, psychologists and more whilst delving into the big world of running
The Science of Ultra podcast with exercise psychologist Professor Shawn Bearden provides a wealth of guidance and advice to aspiring ultra-runners. Shawn published the last new episode back in 2021 and announced that after 6 years, he had covered every possible topic to help listeners achieve their running goals. Although new research will undoubtedly have been published since then, much of this advice will remain useful and relevant. Definitely worth a look.
The Runners World Podcast has been going for some years now and there is a huge back catalogue of episodes to listen to featuring topics on subjects as broad as running superstitions to how running might help grief. They also have interviews with some top names from the running community.
Rich Roll is a runner and writer based out in the states. He speaks to all sorts of guests, some running related and some not, but always interesting.
The Endurance Podcast from the Endurance Physio feature guests, events and lots of training advice to keep you running in tip top shape.
Last but certainly not least in our list is What the Fartlek, a new episode of which is released weekly from Sheffield based hosts Rob Hitchmough and Matthew Taylor. Described as running themed tomfoolery and inspiring guests - it does exactly what it says on the tin!
We hope you enjoy listening to these inspiring podcasts, and please don’t forget to let us know of anymore we should add to our list!
